High Resolution

D850 comes with backside illuminated sensor that maximizes the efficiency of the sensor and increases peripheral image quality. Like Nikon D810, this camera has ISO 64 mode that captures more bight pictures in bright conditions. This high resolution DSLR gives a tough competition to Fujifilm GFX 50S and Pentax 645Z.


When it comes to speed and performance, D850 has the full AF capabilities of the company’s flagship sports camera: D5. This camera has all the hardware like AF module, sensor and AF processor. It also comes with a complete range of AF modes and configuration options. It has the capability to shoot at nine frames per second when you add the optional MB-D18 battery grip.

Video Recording

D850 is the Nikon’s first DSLR that captures 4K video from the full width of its sensor. The camera can shoot at 30, 25 or 24p, at a bit rate of around 144 Mbps. At 1080 resolutions, the camera can shoot at up to 60p along with a slow-motion mode that capture at 120 frames per second. The 1080 mode also supports focus peaking as well as digital stabilization.

Outer Body

Like D810, the body of Nikon D850 is made from magnesium alloy. The latest model comes with a D750-style flip up/down cradle, which makes it higher in resolution and touch sensitive as well. The touch sensitivity is useful with live mode and to navigate menus, which is missing in Nikon D5 and D500. It has a 153-point AF system that features 99 cross-type points. On the other hand, Mode 2 offers 8 megapixel shots at 30fps in the JPEG format only.
