Huawei MediaPad M2 is significantly cheaper than Apple iPad Air 2 device. This sounds great even until you start considering its non-flagship specifications that fall short of the competition. But wait a while if you are thinking that the MediaPad M2 has nothing much to talk about. This is one of the Huawei’s best efforts made into tablet formats, which is affordable and easily obtainable from any of the tablet shops in UAE. This is full sized Android slate that comes with many pro-level specifications and an attractive build. In fact, Huawei has planned to target Apple iPad Pro 9.7 with its newer offering. What’s more, the slate is available in Standard and Premium editions both vary in memory and RAM. The Standard MediaPad M2 sports 2GB RAM in combination with 16GB of ROM, whilst its premium version includes 3GB RAM along with 32GB ROM. In some parts of the world, the device also comes with LTE connectivity but that version sets you back with some extra cash. Again, it has 8” screen, Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 930 processor, 4800mAh battery, and a decent set of cameras on back and front. Also, you can pick it in Gold and Silver colors.
Designed Keeping Widescreen Contents in Mind
MediaPad M2’s design is inspired by Apple and Samsung. From the front; it looks very similar to Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. Just like it, the MediaPad M2 has surrounded its screen with a slightly cheap-looking faux metal plastic rim. On the other hand, unlike Samsung devices, there is present an oval shaped home button vertically rather than being horizontal. Surely, its design favors landscape mode rather than portrait style. Power and volume keys also support landscape viewing as are present on the top of right edge of the slate. Again, the home button is capacitive in nature and you need to hold it for opening an application. Turning the device upside down, you will see that the three quarter of its rear is made up of shimmering aluminum metal that comes either in Gold or Silver color. On the top of, it has a plastic section that lets antennas breath. This is the design formula that you might have seen on Apple iPad devices. Also, the same designing concept has been found on Huawei Nexus 6P. Technically, this slate sits at 214.8 X 124 X 7.8mm and is only 330grams heavy. Though, it is a slimmer tablet, you will want it to place somewhere rather than holding it for any period of time. However, the good part is that you can buy it from any of the online shops for tablets in your region.
Display isn’t Striking Yet Doing Its Job Adequately
If you pay heed at screen specifications on Huawei MediaPad M2, you will find them not as striking as they are on Microsoft surface Pro or Apple iPad Mini 4 tablets. At 1200 X 1920pixels screen resolution, the display on the MediaPad M2 is not adequately bright and vivid. Though, whites on the screen look almost natural without scaling up to the extreme corner of the spectrum. Excluding this, the colors on the screen don’t pop but you won’t find them getting oversaturated at times. At 283ppi density, the 8.0-Inches IPS LCD monitor on this device from Huawei is also not sharp and crispy, but it does its job satisfactorily. In short, the MediaPad M2 will not disappoint you with its middle level screen specifications even though it is not one of the best tablet displays out there. And if you are planning to buy the gadget, it would be better if you go for online shopping for tablet as this way you will be able to find the best deal available on your chosen product.
Well-Equipped Cameras Doing Good Job
Huawei has done commendable job by equipping Huawei MediaPad M2 with fully-loaded camera applications. Talking about 8MP main snapper, it is LED flash assisted sensor that is also benefited from autofocus and HDR functionality. This shooter clicks balanced pictures in favorable lighting conditions that are less noisy. They don’t even look washed out and contain perfect color accuracy with them. Low-light images are also well acceptable. However, you cannot adjust the shots manually except for White Balance and ISO. 2MP front snapper is also good for reasonably strong selfies though, it is useless in the dark. By comparison, Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and Asus ZenPad 3S are still top performer but again they are pricier slates than the device in concern. Any of these mentioned tablets are showcased on many an online shopping stores in Dubai which you can consider if you want to buy a slate for you.
Packing a Mid-Range Runner That is Otherwise Superb
Huawei has packed this device with its subsidiary chipset – HiSilicon Kirin 930 that comes in a set of four cores Cortex-A53 clocked in at 2.0GHz and four cores Cortex-A53 ticked at 1.5GHz. Again, it is paired with slightly weaker Mali-T628 MP4 GPU and either 2 or 3GB of RAM. Also, instead of running on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the slate runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop which has its significant effects on device’s performance. It will be discussed later. First, let’s see how Kirin 930 works. As stated above, it has total eight cores clocked in different clock speed. Depending on the intensity of the jobs, it switches between these cores to offer seamless table experience to users. It’s a modest processor which faces tough competition from Google Pixel C tablet in terms of performance. Still, you will be able to navigate through home screen quickly, launch applications from scratch in just no time, and perform daily tasks in a seamless manner. Though, experience with Google Play store is not shutter-free. Gaming performance of the slate is also not as wonderful, as it is on Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro, thanks to not up-to-the mark GPU. Also, running on an outdated OS version has an explanation too and this is Huawei cannot part its ways with its older custom Emotion UI 3.1 that is not compatible with Android. Again, with 4800mAh power unit on board, this slate can easily manage a full day of moderate to heavy usage. And so it is easy to obtain from one of the best online shopping sites, UAE.
