Design

When we compare both models, iPhone 8 is smaller and lighter than iPhone 8 Plus. The dimension is 138.4×67.3×7.3 mm and weight is 148g. On the other hand, 8 Plus is bigger and heavier. And, the dimension is 158.4×78.1×7.5mm and weight is 202g. Both the devices have a lightning port at the bottom, a power button on the right edge and the volume button on the left edge. None of them have a 3.5mm headphone jack. iPhone 8 has a single lens camera, whereas 8+ has dual-rear camera system.

Display

iPhone 8 is smaller and has softest display, whereas 8 Plus is large and has sharpest display. Both of the handsets have an LCD and iPhone X or iPhone 10 has OLED. Apple’s iPhone 8 has a 4.7 inch display and 1334×750 pixel resolution. On the other hand, 8 Plus has a 5.5 inch display and 1920×1080 pixel resolution. Both have an LED backlit Retina HD display.

Apple’s models offer True Tone Technology, wide color display and 625 cd/m2 max brightness. To deliver something better, iPhone X offers HDR and Dolby Vision compatibility, which is missing in iPhone 8 and 8 Plus model.

Camera

iPhone 8 has single 12 megapixel real camera along with aperture of f/1.8, optical image stabilisation, digital zoom up to 3x and a lot more. iPhone 8 plus has dual-rear camera that includes two 12 megapixel sensors. It also offers wide-angle sensor, an f/1.8 aperture on board, telephoto sensor, and optical image stabilisation. Unlike iPhone 8, you can extend digital zoom up to 6x. When it comes to front camera, both of the models have 7 megapixel FaceTime HD camera with an f/22 aperture and a Retina Flash.

Both devices have a Quad-LED True Tone Flash along with slow sync feature. Like iPhone 10, 8 Plus has a Portrait mode and Portrait Lighting in beta, which is missing in iPhone 8.

Video Recording

When it comes to video recording, both Apple’s models feature 4K video recording at 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps, slow motion video support, 1080 HD video recording, optical image stabilisation and time-lapse video with stabilisation. Only difference is iPhone 8 supports digital zoom up to 3x, whereas 8 Plus supports digital zoom up to 6x.

Hardware & Software

New iPhone models have a new processor – A11 Bionic chip. This processor comes with a Neural engine and an embedded M11 motion coprocessor. On the other hand, iPhone 8 has 2 GB of RAM, whereas iPhone 8+ has 3GB of RAM. When it comes to storage, both of them come with 64 GB or 256 GB, support MicroSD for expansion of storage.

All two models have wireless charging capabilities along with Qi chargers, which offer fast charging. iPhone 8 offers 14 hours talk time and another model has the capability to deliver 21 hours of talk time. Both iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have TouchID for secure authentication that requires users’ fingerprint to lock or unlock the phone. When we talk about its software, Apple’s model run on iOS 11 and all of them offer an almost identical user experience.

Connectivity & Sensor

Both of these models support 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G LTE Advanced, NFC with reader mode, Wi-Fi calling, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS.

Similarly, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have a wide range of sensors that include Accelerometer, Barometer, Proximity sensor, Three-axis gyro, and Ambient light sensor.

No doubt, Apple’s 8 Plus is better, but you will not lose anything if you go with iPhone 8. Both devices have exciting design, attractive display and the most advanced camera along with new technologies like wireless charging, a new casing and hardware.
